Lochcarron Golf Open Closely Contested
The annual Lochcarron Golf Open Competition, played on Saturday 9th July, attracted 62 competitors from 12 different clubs spread across Great Britain, with 50% of entrants coming from the home club. This was the 17th consecutive year the event had been held and the man who started it all in 1988, Berwyn Jones, has returned from Wales each year and competed in them all. But few have been as closely contested as this one.
Murdo MacKenzie, continuing a fine run of performances this season, recorded the best scratch score. Keeping it in the family son-in-law, Gus Murray, won the top handicap section.
The Claymore Trophy for the best Lochcarron man was also won by Murdo MacKenzie with the Isy Dua Trophy for the best Lochcarron lady being secured by June Miller.
