September Update
Competition for the gents' player of the year and the ladies' championship is really hotting up - the Ryder Cup has nothing on this! With only a few gents games left, and one for the ladies, neither result is yet decided…it's going to go right up to the wire…just as it should be!!
A fantastic result for the gents against Gairloch this month at home has turned the fixture round to an overall Lochcarron win - well done boys!
Congratulations go to our visiting country members, Tom and Angela Savory-Moll, who both won this month. We're glad to see you're enjoying your holiday!
I'd also like to mention the compliments from the ladies of Inverness Golf Club, who held their annual outing at Lochcarron in September. They had a great day and extended their thanks for a really well presented course and a superb meal and hospitality. Well done to the green-keepers and to Christine and her crew.
Some additional news of particular interest to the ladies - the standard scratch score has recently been assessed by a team from the SLGA, and it's gone UP by 2 strokes. Dare I say it, this makes it just a whisker easier to achieve and maintain your handicap than it was before, so if any of you out there are still undecided about getting a handicap and playing in competitions, why not come down to the club and give it a go?
The not quite complete list of golf winners for last month is as follows:
Gents:
Gairloch Trophy 4-way match - Gairloch won
One Club + Putter - Tom Savory-Moll
September medal - Simon MacKenzie (net 56!)
Match v Gairloch - Lochcarron win 4-1, and 6-4 overall
Ladies:
9 Hole Matchplay - Keira McFleat
September medal - June Miller
Stableford League - Angela Savory-Moll
