September Update
The less said about the weather this month the better, so I'll move swiftly on to the golf, which continues to be competitive and of high quality.
Tom Watson won the Ian Finlayson Trophy. In the September Medal, Roddy Hope squeaked his win on a better inward half from Bart McFleat. Bill Roberts took the Wednesday league game with an excellent net 57, and shared the President's Shield Four Ball with Tom Watson in horrendous conditions…you boys are hardy!!! Finally, an honourable draw was had with Strathpeffer at home at the beginning of the month. As I write, the men are playing a three-way match with Strathpeffer and Gairloch…keep it in the short stuff boys!
The ladies played two competitions this month. Keira McFleat won the Medal with a superb net 57. It really was a delight to see so many ladies out…AND we had nice weather too. In the pairs competition that was delayed from April, June Miller and Karen Starr prevailed in an enjoyable match where some really good quality golf was played by both teams, particularly on the inward 9.
In the Junior Medal, which was hard fought between Robin, Michael, Liam, Andrew and John, Robin Smith won with a terrific net 65.
We now await the drawing to a close of a great fun season and the last chance to cut those handicaps coming up in the October medals. We can't rest on our laurels though, as both the men and the ladies will hold winter leagues this year…. I reckon warm "undies" and good waterproofs will be the order of the day!
