October 2006 Newsletter
We have reached the end of yet another season, which saw mixed fortunes and mixed weather. The weather on the whole has been much better than the last two seasons with some much needed sunshine over the summer.
The final two medals were played this month with the Saturday Medal again being taken by Gus Murray (55) and the final Wednesday Medal going to Roddy Jockin (58).
Saturday 28th saw 12 worthies venture over to Torvean Golf Club to contest the Coubro Lifting Trophy. The weather started out promising and the first 8 or 9 holes were played in the dry. Then the golfing gods decided that this was too easy, and the rest of the round was played in a biblical deluge. Everyone managed to finish and repaired to the clubhouse for an excellent lunch and some much needed refreshment. The gods relented in the afternoon and we were blessed with autumn sunshine. The first round saw Bart McFleat come in with a good score of 37 points and he went out in the afternoon and put in another excellent round and again scored 37 points giving him a total of 74 points overall. Nobody else could live with this and Bart won by a good margin!! Well played Bart.
Our Mens Player of the Year was Gus Murray and the Most Improved Player award went to Gus's son Kieran. Matchplay Champion was John Don McKenzie. Many congratulations to them.
On the Ladies front Keira McFleat was not to be outdone by Bart and took the October Medal, the Ladies Stableford and the Ladies Champion. Very well done Keira.
Thanks to all those who took part in all the competitions and supported the club in their matches both at home and away. Thanks to our Captain Dan Marshall for leading us to some notable victories during the season.
As last year we will be running our winter league over the coming months.
Don't forget the AGM at the Clubhouse on Friday 24th November 2006.
