Lochcarron Golf Open 2006
The annual Lochcarron Golf Open now in its 18th year, was played on Saturday 8th July 2006, and it again attracted a field of some 60 odd players from all over. Once again we were delighted that Berwyn Jones the founder of the event was able to come up and play, thus keeping up his record of having played in all 18.
This year proved to be another close contest with Johnny Strachan (Nigg Bay) going one better that last year and securing a win in the up to 12 Handicap section. Best Scratch Score went to Simon Mackenzie (Lochcarron) and our own Fiona Matheson won the Isy Dua Cup for the best Lady. Despite being the inform Lochcarron man so far this season, Gus Murray failed to live up to expectations, and did not figure at the end. However, son Kieran upheld the family honour by winning the Claymore Trophy for best Lochcarron Man. He then went one better and won the 19-28 Handicap Section. To top it off he got the hat-trick by being nearest the pin on the 5th hole. Well done Kieran! It's good to see one of our Juniors doing so well.

Thanks go to all the people who helped prior to the event by tidying up the course and preparing it so well. Also to those who helped on the day itself in various ways. Especial thanks go to Karen Starr who manned the door and did a splendid job booking in players and recording scores. This she did over much of the day. Thanks Karen.
Once again the Club extends its warmest thanks to our sponsors of the event for they're continuing support including Lochcarron Food Centre, Bank of Scotland, R & C MacLennan, Lochcarron Hotel, Rockvilla Hotel and Loch Torridon Smoke House
